UNDERGROUND BELT CONVEYOR // POLYAK – TURKEY
At a time when Turkey set coal production records (101.5 million tons in 2018), LA STEPHANOISE has managed to become an indispensable partner as part of a strategic project.
In fact, the Polyak Eynez turkisk mine, located in Kinik, near to the Soma coal basin, challenged itself a bet in 2014 to construct the deepest underground lignite mine in Turkey. The POLYAK EYNEZ MINING PROJECT was born.
Composed of an inclined gallery which is 3500 meters long having 15 degrees slope and of two vertical shafts that are 800 meters long vertically and 8 meters diameter. Thanks to this new exploitation, the mining company planned to produce 5 million tons each year. To achieve this big challenge, LA STEPHANOISE has been able to provide a suitable technical and economic solution.
LA STEPHANOISE will take in charge the design, the manufacture and the installation of an underground belt conveyor system composed of two conveyors for decline. The project in a few numbers:
- 3000 tons per hour capacity
- 3200 meters total length
- 665 meters total elevation drop (15° slope)
- 9 motors of 1000kW
This complex conveyor system is one of the biggest ever made in LA STEPHANOISE. It already makes a major reference for the future.
